CHILEAN EDUCATION AND MY ROL AS A TEACHER IN THIS COUNTRY

CHILEAN EDUCATION AND MY ROL AS A TEACHER IN THIS COUNTRY

In my personal experience, education for me is the base of all succesful life and in many cases the responsible of a good lifestyle in the society.

Also in my case I have to make a clear difference between this society and its needs and my own experience as a student and the things that I needed but nowadays are not necessary for this society.

With this in my mind, I think about chilean education and I what I see is a clear lack of authirity and respect to the teacher and maybe it is first because teachers just teach what they have in the ministerial plans and about people which doesn`t exist for sure or in real, they are just part of a dialogue in a book and most of the times values are not important for them in their classes on the other hand, values changes in the student are clearly perceived in this society and the suppprt from parents to encourage students is not so strong neither. Students don`t want to do something else apart what teachers do for transmit them knowledge and instead of that thay are envolved in an environment which is so technological and with many machines around them in stead of people that could giving them advices or taking care about what they do after school.

I remember when I wanted to study for beeing a teacher, it was because I knew english and I thought it was the most logical thing to study for that, also because when I was a young lady I was very authoritarian and I decided to follow my instinc. Then the real problem was to get into university because I was a foreingner and I thought it could be more difficult to get into a university, I was right, thanks god after some nots, I heard a YES from a university which till now has been a real support with a lot of insistence and complaints, but a support after all.

Nowadays I consider education an important base for all the process that life itself implies and the only thing I know is that I am totally envolved of this responsibility and for those kids I`ll continue improving my knowledges and my materials for teaching not only english, but also values, and I hope I could help a little bit to dissapear all this crisis in chilean education.

“With respect to the role of future teachers in the crisis, I think that there is no practical way out for us not to be unjustly blamed for it. Historically, teachers have always served as scapegoats for the mistakes and faults committed by political authorities and businessmen hidden behind them. Nevertheless, the teaching profession should always feel obliged mainly with students and their families even when the government and school managers tried mischievously to break this commitment. I hope I will get through despite all the difficulties to come in the near future.”

PERUVIAN FOOD

MY FAVOURITE FOOD
My favorite food is Peruvian food; this is the most exquisite food I´ve tried. That is maybe because I am Peruvian and most of my life I´ve been fed by rice, potatoes, chicken, pork, lamb, and fish. Most of these meals include one of the different kinds of "aji", or Peruvian hot pepper, which mainly are: yellow aji pepper, red aji pepper and red rocoto pepper.

Nowadays you can find more than 200 varieties of potato in the Lake Titicaca area. They range in color from purple to blue, from yellow to brown. Sizes and textures vary as well. Some are smalls as nuts; others can be as large as oranges
Anyway it is also good to have a plate of dishes made with fish and cuy (which is an animal very similar to rabbit in taste.
But I´d like to share with you some of the delicious dishes and food you can find in this country:
Pescado y Mariscos (Fish and Seafood) – Anything with fish is a great bet. Ceviche is the most famous. Peruvians "cook" fine white cod in lemon juice, serve it chunky with onions and spices. In the mountains, you can find "trucha," the local fresh Andean trout, generally farm raised.
· Comida Criolla – This is the term for the traditional Peruvian dishes. Aji de gallina (spicy chicken stew), lomo saltado (stir-fry beef),

chupe (fish stew) anticuchos (marinated beef heart). Vegetables play a major role in these dishes.
· Chifa – This is the term for Chinese restaurants in Peru. From very elegant to simple, all seem to serve excellent food in and around Lima. Peruvians love to celebrate events at the Chifas.
· Inca Cola – The color of this soft drink is bright yellow and it smells like bubble gum.
· Aji de Gallina: shredded chicken in a spiced milk sauce.
· Adobo de cerdo: Pork sauce, served with white rice.
· Arroz con Pollo: Boiled chicken seasoned with a green sauce. Served always with green rice (rice cooked with albahaca)
· Anticuchos: marinated grilled beef heart.
· Carapulca: It is made from dried and diced potatoes with pork, steak and rice.
· CauCau: Consists of tripe and diced potatoes
· Ceviche: Fish or mixed shrimp with lemon. The seafood is cut into small pieces and then mixed with lemon juice and left to sit for 1hr. Next, it is mixed with onions, celery, , salt and black pepper. The dish is served cold.

· Escabeche de pescado: Boiled fish seasoned with onions, aji and lemon juice
· Ocopa: boiled potatoes in a seasoned sauce of cheese and nuts
· Pachamanca: This is a typical dish from the desert. It consists of lamb, pork, meat, potatoes, sweet potatoes, and a tamale. First, one has to heat rocks on the floor using firewood. When they are hot enough, the food is placed inside a sac and buried in the hot rocks. The food has to be repeatedly checked to see when it is done because the temperature is unstable.
· Papa la Huancaina: Potatoes served with a special spicy sauce, olives, lettuce and egg.

· Papa Rellena: meat-stuffed potato patties.
· Parihuela: Fish, shrimp crabs, mussels and octopus. Served with yuca and rice.
· Rocoto Relleno: Typical dish with meat, onions, peanuts, milk and eggs, everything baked inside of the delicious rocoto (pepper), with potatoes and cheese.
· Seco de frejoles: Boiled beans with a lamb stew in green sauce, always served with white rice and raw onions seasoned with lemon and aji.
· Roast cuy, or guinea pig, is considered a delicacy, and is traditionally served for very special occasions.
For all these mixtures of meat and seasoned sauces is that I love Peruvian food
I hope you have the opportunity to try one of these delicious dishes and even give your opinion.

Frankenstein as a Romantic Heroe:

Lyrical Ballads wrote by Wordsworth and Coleridge is an early example of Romantic literature. According to Wordsworth,: “The poet considers man and nature as essentially adapted to each other, and the mind of man as naturally a mirror of the fairest and most interesting properties of nature” (Anderson 606).

As them Shelley’s father, William Godwin ,was one of the leading political philosophers of the first Romantic generation. Then obviously William´s daughter had the same perspective.

For most people the idea of a romantic was not clear at the 1818, so in this scenary fiction novels of supernatural terror as Frankenstein showed themselves the idea of a romantic or the idea of romanticism. In Frankenstein story, the mad scientist Victor Frankenstein and his creation provoke readers with the fear of the unknown and the powerful romantic hero because of its intricate settings of natutre and the isolation in which Frankenstein stays.
Wordsworth, Coleridge among others helped to create this idea of the Romantic Hero. “Romantics saw and felt things brilliantly afresh. They virtually invented certain landscapes . . . had a new intuition for the primal power of the wild landscape, the spiritual correspondence between Man and Nature . . .” (Drabble 853).

A romantic hero is a hero who is aware of the self assertion and the value of individual experience

Also they are always in loneliness because of their opposites ways of thinking, and are in many cases look for landscapes in order not to feel the disdain of the rest.

Romantic hero also support his idea in the fact of changing and thinking about the connection between the human mind and the reality within this faith of change were originated the ideas of the Romantics

The mysterious forces of nature were another area where the thoughts of the Romantics originated and as Robert Anderson .”they prized experiences of the beauty and majesty of nature. . . but they had a strong sense of its mysterious forces, partly because these forces hinted at the cause of change”

In Frankenstein, Victor Frankenstein acknowledges these forces when he says: It was the secrets of heaven and earth that I desired to learn; and whether it was the outward substance of things, or the inner spirit of nature and the mysterious soul of man that occupied me, still my inquires were directed to the metaphysical, or, in its highest sense, the physical secrets of the world. (Shelley 28)

So according to this, we can say that, Frankenstein can be considered one of most important characters which showed to a group of people in a determined time how and which are the thougths of a romantic hero. Even now when there are many examples of them, we can recurr to this historical prometeus and look at him in order to clarify our concept of what a romantic hero is.

TSUNAMI

The tsunami: A very complicated situation everywhere you are

The tsunami is a natural desaster ocasionated by an earthquake, landslide, volcanic eruption or meteorite and it can move hundreds of miles per hour in the open ocean and smash into land with waves as high as 100 feet or more.
All tsunamis are potentially dangerous, even though they may not damage every coastline they strike. It can strike anywhere along most of the U.S. coastline. The most destructive tsunamis have occurred along the coasts of California, Oregon, Washington, Alaska, and Hawaii
Tsunamis are most often generated by earthquakes which induce movements in the ocean floor
In this if a landslide occurs close to a shore it is possible that the first wave in a series could reach quickly the beach
Tsunamis can destroit cities, beaches, and even they can start fires from ruptured thanks, or gas lines. Other hazards are flooding, contamination of drinking water.
Some of the possible ways of prevention or things you can do before a tsunami are:
  • Turn on your radio to learn if there is a tsunami warning if an earthquake occurs and you are in a coastal area.

  • Move inland to higher ground immediately and stay there.

  • Stay away from the beach. Never go down to the beach to watch a tsunami come in. If you can see the wave you are too close to escape it
And after a tsunami the most recomendable things you can do are the following:

Stay away from flooded and damaged areas
until officials say it is safe to return.
Stay away from debris in the water
; it may pose a safety hazard to boats and people.
Save yourself - not your possessions
The sadnest consequences of the tsunamis are the human lose and it are not recoverable, the closer example of it was the Tsunami occurred in Tailandia and which left hundreds of loose.
And not so farfrom Chile in the north of Perú it was almost a secure consequence after the terrible earthquake which took place almost one month ago.
It would be a terrible desaster here in Chile, for this reason it is recomendable to know about Tsunamis in case of one can occurr soon.
